French Quarter Festival began as a and has since grown into a four-day, 22-stage extravaganza of Louisiana culture.

Now approaching it's 42nd year, much has changed since the early days ... but the most important things remain the same; French Quarter Festival is all about local music, food, and FUN - for everyone!

We've gone into the vaults and found a small cache of lapel pins created back in 2003 to celebrate the 20th annual French Quarter Festival, featuring our original mascot, a colorful carton lamppost character named RueDee. Styled after the historic gas lamps that still dot the neighborhood, Ruedee's name is a nod to the area's French origins; in French, 'Rue de ... ' means 'Street.' French Quarter street signs include the street name in French along with English still to this day. 

RueDee has since retired, but his spirit lives on in this vintage lapel pin!
